Safety, Security and Peace of Mind
In the winter an extended power outage can mean your home’s temperatures can quickly drop, security systems may not stay online and stock watering will not function. Any of these can affect the wellbeing of your family or livestock. A Kohler Standby Generator will start automatically even if you are not home.
Financial Reasons
An extended power outage can mean freezers and refrigerators full of spoiled food and frozen water pipes, all of which can be very costly to replace.
How Does a Kohler Standby Generator Work?
Under Normal Power Conditions
The Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) constantly monitors the flow of electricity coming from the utility. There is a power indicator located on the ATS that lets you know whether your power is being provided by the utility or the generator. In order to ensure that it will be ready when you need it, your Kohler Generator will run automatically for 20 min each week and perform diagnostic tests.
When the Power Goes Out
When the generator senses a power failure or the power drops to unacceptable or brownout levels, the ATS signals the generator to start. In 10 seconds, the ATS will transfer your power to the running generator.
While the Generator is Powering Your Home
Your generator will supply your home with electricity until the utility power is restored. Its commercial-grade engine is capable of handling large starting loads like central heating and air conditioning without cutting power to your other appliances. Before purchase and installation, your generator has undergone rigorous testing to make sure is it reliable. Each generator comes with a 3-year full parts and labour and a 5-year parts warranty from Kohler.
When Utility Power is Restored
When the ATS senses the utility power is restored, it automatically transfers your power from the generator to the utility. Your Kohler Standby Generator automatically shuts down, ready for the next outage.
